There are no accounts on this site, and you never have to give a name, email address or password. This page lists everything that does get stored.
The game saves a few things in your browser's local storage, on your own device:
The identifier is just a random number. It isn't based on your device, your browser or anything else about you, and nobody can use it to find out who you are. It's there so that finishing the same edition twice only counts once. Clearing this site's data deletes all of the above, including your streak, and there's no way to get it back.
When you finish an edition, the game sends one record to the server: the game and the edition date, your random identifier, your score, and what you answered in each round. If you give the edition a thumbs up or down, that's saved with the same identifier. It's only a plus or a minus, with no comment box.
The server adds an approximate location to the record, a country and a region (like a state or county), which Cloudflare works out from your connection. Your IP address is not stored, here or anywhere else in the system, and there's a test in the code that checks this. Locations are never shown to players, and I only look at them as totals.
I use these records to see how many people played each edition and how hard it turned out to be. I don't sell them or share them with anyone, and I don't use them to build a profile of you.
If you ask for a transfer code, the server stores a one-way hash of the code, the identifier it belongs to, and the time it expires (15 minutes later). The code itself is never stored, and it only works once.
Reminders are off unless you turn them on with the "Remind me" button under the countdown. If you do, your browser gives the site a push address, which the server stores along with your time zone (so the reminder comes in the daytime) and your random identifier (so you aren't reminded about a day you've already played). The reminder itself carries no data about you. Click the button again, or block notifications for this site, and the address is deleted.
If you send a flag through the submit page, the server stores the image and what you typed into the form: whether it's real or fake, the source, any note, and your name and email address if you gave them. It also stores your random identifier if your browser has one, which is only used to limit how many flags one browser can send in a day. Only I can see submissions. Your email address is never shown anywhere, and your name is only shown as a credit if you ticked the box asking for that. To have a submission deleted, email me and I'll remove it.
This site may show ads in the future, through Google AdSense, and Google's ad script may already be loaded on its pages. When ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to choose and measure them, as described in Google's advertising policies. You can change what Google uses in My Ad Center, and in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you'll be asked for consent first.
The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles requests on my behalf and keeps its own short-lived logs for running the service. The play records described above are stored in a Cloudflare database on the same account.
The game is fine for all ages. It doesn't collect anything that could identify anyone, children included. The submit page asks for a name and an email address, but both are optional.
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything stored on your device, and the old identifier won't be used again. If you also want the records on the server deleted, email me your identifier using the Contact link at the bottom of the page and I'll remove them. You can find the identifier in this site's local storage, under rfff:player.
If the site starts storing anything different, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
